Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Tuesday congratulated Olympians Manu Bhaker and Sarabjot Singh for bagging a historic win at the Paris Olympics 2024 in the 10m Air Pistol Mixed event. The duo, who won a bronze medal, were lauded for their great skills and teamwork by PM Modi. 


"Our shooters continue to make us proud," remarked Modi in his post on X. 


"Congratulations to @realmanubhaker and Sarabjot Singh for winning the Bronze medal in the 10m Air Pistol Mixed Team event at the #Olympics. Both of them have shown great skills and teamwork. India is incredibly delighted," he said.

The Prime Minister also noted that it was second win for Bhaker at the Olympics "showcasing her consistent excellence and dedication." 


With Tuesday's win, India's medal tally stands at 2, bronze. The first medal was won by Bhaker in the 10m Air Pistol individual event on Sunday while the Manu-Sarabjot duo bagged the second one on Tuesday. With her second win, Bhaker has also scripted history of being the first Indian athlete to win multiple medals at a single Olympics after the Independence.

President Droupadi Murmu also extended wishes to the athletes and wished many more laurels to them in the future. 


In a post, Murmu said: "Congratulations to Manu Bhaker and Sarabjot Singh for winning bronze medal for India in the mixed team 10 metre air pistol event for shooting! Manu Bhaker has created history, becoming the first woman shooter from India to win two medals in the same Olympic games. She has done us immensely proud. I wish her and Sarabjot Singh many more laurels in the future."
