Amid Wayanad in Kerala devastated by massive landslides triggered by heavy rains, leading to widespread destruction and loss. The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a red alert for four districts including Wayanad on Tuesday. The IMD also issued red alert to Kozhikode, Malappuram and Kasaragod in the state on Tuesday.
According to IMD, an orange alert has been issued for Pathanamthitta, Alappuzha, Kottayam, Ernakulam, Idukki, Thrissur, and Palakkad, warning of further severe weather conditions.

Wayanad Landslides
Wayanad's high-range villages in Kerala are marked by destroyed houses, swollen water bodies, and uprooted trees after massive landslides on Tuesday. The hamlets like Mundakkai, Chooralmala, Attamala, and Noolpuzha, known for their beauty until Monday, now depict a scene of devastation as landslides have cut them off from other areas.
Swollen water bodies have altered their course, flowing through inhabited areas and causing further destruction.
According to Kerala Health Minister Veena George, 24 persons have lost their lives and 70 others have suffered injuries in the landslide.
She said, "We are trying every possible thing to rescue our people. We have received 24 bodies in different hospitals. Around 70 people are also injured. We have ensured proper treatment of the injured. Teams of NDRF and Civil Defence are present there; a team of Navy will also be reaching there soon. A bridge in the area has also washed away."
On Wayanad landslide, Kerala Governor Arif Mohammad Khan said, "Your heart goes out to all those families. I have been told that so far our teams have not been able to reach the landslide site due to heavy rain and that the river has changed its course."
