Pakistan Continues Cross-Border Terrorism: Army Identifies Terrorist Killed In Kupwara

The encounter took place on Saturday evening in the Jumagund area of Jammu & Kashmir’s Kupwara district when the accused allegedly tried to infiltrate from across the border.

New Delhi: The Indian Army officials have identified the terrorist killed in the Kupwara encounter on Saturday as Pakistan’s Mohd. Shabbir Malik. The officials have also recovered an AK-47 rifle and seven grenades from the encounter spot, news agency ANI reported.

The officials also reiterated that this proves that Pakistan engages in cross-border terror. The search operation is ongoing in the region as the army suspects that there might be more infiltrators hiding.

“In breach of ongoing ceasefire b/w India & Pak across LoC, infiltration or BAT action was attempted in the Keran sector, Kupwara on Jan 1. Own troops deployed foiled the bid&eliminated the terrorist, identified as Pak's Mohd Shabbir Malik; one AK47 & 7 grenades recovered,” Army officials told ANI.

The officials also said that a Hotline communication has also been sent to Pakistan to take back the body of the dead. “This clearly establishes that Pakistan continues to sponsor cross-border terror.  A Hotline communication has been made to the Pakistan Army asking them to take back the body of the killed individual,” the Official said.

The encounter took place on Saturday evening in the Jumagund area of Jammu & Kashmir’s Kupwara district when the accused allegedly tried to infiltrate from across the border.

The Kashmir zone police on Saturday informed about the incident via a tweet saying, “One unidentified #terrorist killed in an #encounter at Jumagund area of #Kupwara. Army & Police are on the job. Further details shall follow.”
