Oyo Delists Delhi Hotel After Kashmiri Man Denied Entry, Says 'Rooms And Heart Open For All'
In the video, a woman staff of a hotel in Delhi can be seen not allowing a customer to check-in as he has an identity card from Jammu & Kashmir.
New Delhi: A video of a Kashmiri man being denied accommodation at a hotel in Delhi, listed under hotel aggregator Oyo Rooms, despite having a booking has gone viral on social media.
In a tweet, that has been shared by over 1,000 users, a woman staff of the hotel can be seen not allowing a customer to check-in as he has an identity card from Jammu & Kashmir.
When confronted by the man, the female staff initially refuses to tell the reason for denying his entry into the hotel and later (after taking to her senior over the phone) says it has been instructed by Delhi Police to them not to give accommodation to anyone who has an ID from Jammu & Kashmir.
After knowing the reason, the Kashmiri man politely leaves the hotel premises.
The video, which was shot by the Kashmiri man himself, was shared by Nasir Khuehami who is the National Spokesperson of Jammu & Kashmir Student Association.
Khuehami calls it to be an on-ground impact of recently released Bollywood movie "The Kashmir Files".
"Impact of #KashmirFiles on ground. Delhi Hotel denies accommodation to Kashmiri man, despite provided id and other documents. Is being a Kashmiri a Crime," Khuehami wrote while sharing the video on Twitter.
Oyo Rooms Takes Action Against Hotel
Soon after the video went viral on social media, Oyo Rooms took congnisance of the matter and removed the hotel from its platform immediately.
Responding to Khuehami's tweet, Oyo Rooms issued a clarification and wrote: "We are appalled that this happened. We have taken the hotel off our platform immediately.
"Our rooms and our hearts are open for everyone, always. This is not something that we will compromise on, ever. We will definitely check what compelled the hotel to deny check-in. We thank you for bringing this to our notice," the hotel aggregator said further.
Delhi Police Issues Statement
Reacting to the female staff's claim that Delhi Police has ordered not to allow anyone with Jammu & Kashmir IDs, Delhi Police said that no such directions have been given.
A purported video is viral on social media wherein a person is being denied hotel reservation due to his J&K ID. The reason for cancellation is being given as direction from police.

Delhi Police also pointed out that the aggrieved person in the video, while posting the same on YouTube, has stated that he stayed in the same area in another hotel and it was a lame excuse given by the hotel.
Police also said that some netizens are trying to discredit the image of Delhi Police through willful misrepresentation of the video in circulation which can attract penal action
