President Droupadi Murmu on Tuesday greeted citizens on New Year's Eve and urged everyone to take "our society and nation" further on the path of unity and excellence.

In her annual message, the President noted that the new year symbolises fresh hopes, dreams and aspirations.

"The New Year marks the beginning of new hopes, dreams and aspirations in everyone's lives. The occasion of New Year gives people an opportunity to march forward with renewed vigour to fulfil their wishes," President Murmu said in the message.

"Let us welcome the new year with joy and enthusiasm and take our society and nation further on the path of unity and excellence," she said.

She extended her "heartiest greetings and best wishes to all Indians, living in India and abroad". 

"On the joyous occasion of New Year, I extend my heartiest greetings and best wishes to all Indians, living in India and abroad," she said according to a press release shared from the President's website. She highlighted that this occasion presents an opportunity to move ahead with renewed energy to achieve "our wishes".
