'Opportunity For Entrepreneurs': Indian Railways To Recruit Around 1.5 Lakh People, Says Ashwini Vaishnaw

Railway minister Ashwini Vaishnaw shared an update on the recruitment in Indian Railways in the last few years and plans for future recruitment.

New Delhi: After the first train under the Bharat Gaurav Scheme of Indian Railways was flagged off, Railway minister Ashwini Vaishnaw tweeted a video on Tuesday stressing the opportunities for entrepreneurs to explore theme-based tourism. Vaishnaw, who shared a video through a tweet said: "Opportunities for entrepreneurs to explore theme-based tourism: First ‘Bharat Gaurav’ departs from Coimbatore to Shirdi."

The minister also shared an update on the recruitment in Indian Railways in the last few years.  

"3.5 lakh recruitments in Indian Railways between 2014-22 with more than 43000 avg annually. Approx. 1.5 lakh additional new recruitments are in the process at a steadfast pace," he wrote in another post.

The 'Bharat Gaurav' train will reach Shirdi on Thursday and return again to Coimbatore on Saturday.

"With this, the Southern Railway becomes the first zone in Indian Railways to get the first registered service provider under the ‘Bharat Gaurav” scheme and commence the operations of the maiden service from Coimbatore North to Sainagar Shirdi. 1,100 passengers boarded the maiden roundtrip service from Coimbatore to Shirdi," a government statement read.

The service is provided by South Star Rail and the private player will also provide veg meals, snacks, devotional magazines, a bedtime kit and in-house doctor support on the train.

As per the Bharat Gaurav scheme announced by the Centre in November, any operator or service provider can lease trains for two years from Indian Railways to operate theme-based trains for special tourism packages.

The operator is also free to decide on the routes, the halt points and the tariff for the service.
