After addressing a public meeting in Moga, Arvind Kejriwal spoke to auto drivers in Ludhiana.
“70 per cent contribution was of auto and taxi drivers in the formation of our govt in Delhi. You can call any auto driver in Delhi and ask about us. If he doesn't praise us then don't vote for me," Delhi Chief Minister told the gathering, as quoted by ANI.
He then took a ride in an auto-rickshaw in Ludhiana, a video of the same was shared on Twitter.
In another video shared by AAP's official handle, party chief Kejriwal shared his experience of dining at Dilip Tiwari’s residence, one of the auto drivers who attended the evening meeting and had invited the Delhi CM to have his dinner at his home
“In the evening, when we had a meeting with auto-rickshaw drivers. Dilip Tiwari was among those in the meet, he drives an auto. He invited us to have dinner with his family. We were very gladenned,” Arvind Kejriwal said.
“They offered us delicious food. Now, I have invited him to come with his family and have dinner at my home whenever they visit Delhi,” he added.
Speaking at the meeting with the drivers, the Delhi Chief Minister said how auto drivers in the national capital consider him as their younger brother and many have his number. “Whenever they have any problem, they directly call/message the CM,” Kejriwal claimed.
In Ludhiana, he also reiterated his jibe at CM Charanjit Singh Channi, calling him “fake Kejriwal”.
“In Punjab, a fake Kejriwal is roaming. Whatever I promise here, he repeats the same. In the entire country, only one man, Kejriwal, can bring down your electricity bill to zero. So beware of that fake Kejriwal”, the AAP chief had said in Moga earlier, as quoted by ANI.
The comment comes as several months back, long power cuts caused by production shortage became a major issue in Punjab. Electricity has been a significant concern and recently, the Punjab government had lowered the tariff for domestic use claiming that that state now has the lowest electricity rates in the country.
In view of the 2022 Assembly elections, the AAP chief Arvind Kejriwal on Monday arrived in the poll-bound state on a two-day visit to launch his ‘Mission Punjab’.
With the elections nearing, the political back and forth between parties in Punjab, as in other poll-bound states, has intensified.
AAP, being a major challenger for the ruling Congress party, is stepping up the campaign with Arvind Kejriwal scheduled to visit various places in Punjab in the next one month to announce the party’s programmes for the state and its people.
In the 2017 Punjab Assembly polls, Congress won an absolute majority in the state by winning 77 seats and ousted the SAD-BJP government after 10 years. Aam Aadmi Party emerged as the second-largest party winning 20 seats in the 117-member Punjab Legislative Assembly. The Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD) could only manage to win 15 seats while the BJP secured three seats.
