The Olympian had sought relief in the case, saying that the police built a false case and presented a “guilty image” of him.

Opposing Kumar’s bail plea, the prosecution submitted that the accused hunted a 27-year-old wrestler like “wild animals out on a hunt”.

Kumar’s lawyer Pradeep Rana said that the police officers, who were made witnesses in this case, gave their statements after an unexplained delay.

Kumar, who was arrested earlier on May 23, is lodged in jail since June 2.

The 38-year-old wrestler, along with others, allegedly assaulted former junior national wrestling champion Sagar Dhankar and his friends at the Chhatrasal Stadium earlier in May over an alleged property dispute.

Dhankar, who succumbed to his injuries later, died due to the cerebral damage resulting from blunt object impact, as per the post-mortem report.

There are 155 prosecution witnesses in this case.
