Odisha Minister Death: The investigating team has also seized the pistol and three rounds of live ammunition of accused ASI Gopal which will be sent for a ballistic examination.
New Delhi: A crime branch team has seized one empty bullet case from the site where Odisha minister Naba Kishore Das was shot and also took in custody other physical clue material.
The team visited the crime spot at Lift and Shifting Office Building near Gandhi Chowk along with Forensic /Ballistic Experts, an official press note of the team said.
It also seized one 9mm pistol, 3 rounds of live ammunition and a mobile handset of the accused ASI Gopal Krushna Das. The fire arms, ammunitions will be sent for Ballistic examination and opinion, the release added.
Odisha health minister Naba Kishore Das was shot in the chest on Saturday after which he was airlifted for treatment. He later succumbed to the bullet injury.
A crime branch team headed by DSP Ramesh Chandra Dora is leading the investigation in the case. According to the official release, DSP Dora is being assisted by Inspector Jebanananda Jena, Scientific/Ballistic Experts of SFSL Bhubaneswar. The entire team is camping at Brajarajanagar and investigating into the case.
“During its investigation the team at Brajarajnagar examined the informant and other eye witnesses including the other person,” the release added.
It said that another team headed by DSP Sishir Mishra and staff conducted investigation at Bhubaneswar including inquest followed by autopsy by a team of doctor of Capital Hospital, BBSR after arranging sufficient lighting facility. Videography of the entire process has also been done, it added.
Apart from this, the investigating team at Bhubaneswar also seized the treatment records and wearing apparels (blood stained clothes) including other biological exhibits. The viscera of Das has also been preserved for further chemical examination and opinion.
The press note added that the accused ASI Gopal Krushna Das is under police custody and will be forwarded to the Court for further police remand.
The Addl DG of Police, CID/Crime Odisha is also camping at the spot and personally monitoring and supervising the investigation of the case, the statement read.
