New Delhi: In order to motivate people to switch to digital form of payments, and to ‘ease down the hustle created due to cash crunch’, the government had announced a discount on use of debit or credit cards, mobile wallets like Paytm and also on the use of loyalty cards at PSU petrol pumps., which will be applicable on Tuesday onward.

People can now avail 0.75% discount on use of Debit/Credit Cards, Mobile Wallets and Prepaid Loyalty Cards at PSU petrol pumps

The buyer will get the discount sum as a cash back which will be credited to their account within three days after the transaction.

Finance Minister Arun Jaitley last week announced a list of measures including discounts on online payments of rail tickets, insurance policies and highway toll plazas as the government intended to promote digital money post demonetisation.

FM Jaitley while referring to the lines outside banks and ATMs after the November 8 announcement said “I don’t find any social unrest.  The queues are by-and-large disciplined”.

He also added that “If you ask the person standing in queue about demonetisation, he or she is likely to say- I’m troubled, but am happy this decision has been taken”.

The current price of Petrol in the national capital is Rs. 66.10 per litre, while a litre of diesel costs Rs. 54.57.
