Robert Vadra has reacted to the FIR against his wife and Congress General Secretary Priyanka Gandhi in Madhya Pradesh and said that he was not surprised by the development. He said it was BJP's tactic to create perception, adding that the more the saffron party puts pressure on them, the more Congress will rise. Calling Priyanka Gandhi, Rahul and Sonia fearless, Vadra said that BJP tries to put legal pressure on people wherever the party is in government and that now 'people will revolt (against BJP)'.
"I am not surprised. This is their method to create a perception. This was the same in Karnataka, there was '40% commission' govt. The same is here (MP). Wherever they topple govt and run their own politics - that Govt will not go on for long and people will revolt...Priyanka is fearless, Rahul is fearless, Sonia ji is fearless, we will put forth the people's voice..," he said.
"They will put pressure on us either legally or through agencies or some other way. But the more pressure they put on us, the more we will rise strongly," he further added.
Earlier, in an interview with PTI, Vadra said that Priyanka should be in Lok Sabha for sure. "She has all the qualifications for it. She would be very good in Parliament and she deserves to be there. I hope that the Congress party accepts and plans better for her," he said.
An FIR was registered by the Indore Police against senior Congress party leaders over a post on 'X', formerly known as Twitter, accusing the Madhya Pradesh government of corruption. The names include party general secretary Priyanka Gandhi Vadra, MP Congress chief Kamal Nath and former Union Minister Arun Yadav.
The Indore police, in a statement, said that the local BJP's legal cell convener Nimesh Pathak complained that a fake letter bearing the name of a person called Gyanendra Awasthi was circulated on social media, reported PTI.
