New Delhi: The nearly 100-metre tall twin towers of Supertech -- Apex and Ceyane -- will be razed to the ground at 2.30 pm on Sunday following a Supreme Court order.
A total 3,700 kg of explosives will be required to demolish both towers. The process to rig the towers in Sector 93A with explosives was finalised.
On August 31 last year, the Supreme Court had ordered the demolition of the twin towers for violation of building norms.
Noida Twin Tower Demolition: Evacuation Plan Details
- As per the evacuation plan, residents of Emerald Court and ATS Village societies were made to vacate their homes on Sunday.
- The residents of the two societies also had to vacate their vehicles from their premises.
- In case any resident has two or more vehicles, and there is not ample parking space outside the societies, the Noida Authority will provide parking space for them for the period of evacuation.
- The residents can return home only after 4 pm following safety clearance by demolition firm Edifice Engineering.
- Security guards and officials can stay inside the premises till noon but they will also have to vacate premises after that.
- The plan was finalised in a meeting held at the Noida Authority office in the presence of representatives of the residents' groups of the two adjoining societies, demolition firm Edifice Engineering, local police, fire department, among others.
- Entry of people and vehicles will be restricted in the close proximity area of the twin towers in Sector 93A.
- The Noida-Greater Noida Expressway will remain unavailable for vehicular movement from 2.15 pm to 2.45 pm on August 28, the plan stated.
- Fire tenders, ambulances, etc, required for emergency services, shall be parked on the road constructed behind the park in front of the twin towers.
- In case of damage to the surrounding property, an insurance of Rs 100 crore has been given. A Noida Authority official said '35,000 cubic metre rubble' is expected to be left in the aftermath of the demolition.
