'If He Gets To Know The Word Was Coined By A Muslim...': Owaisi's Dig At Amit Shah On Using 'Quit India'
Accusing the BJP of practising 'politics of appeasement', Owaisi, speaking in the Lok Sabha, said it would only harm the country.
Taking a swipe at Union Home Minister Amit Shah on the use of the "Quit India" slogan to attack the Opposition, AIMIM chief Asaduddin Owaisi on Thursday said if BJP got to know that a Muslim had coined the term, they would stop using it.
"Our Home Minister was talking about 'Quit India' yesterday. I wonder if he gets to know that the word 'Quit India' was coined by a Muslim, he will not use this word. I want to say that the kind of politics you (Central govt) are doing will harm the country. I want to ask the PM if Hindutva is more important than the country," ANI quoted Owaisi as saying while replying to the no-confidence motion in the Lok Sabha.
Yusuf Meher Ali had coined the "Quit India" slogan that Mahatma Gandhi had spread across the country during the fight for Independence.
"If you really want to say Quit India then say 'China, Quit India'...the politics of appeasement which you do should 'Quit India'. You are creating danger for this country. I want to appeal to the government that the kind of politics you are practising will only harm the country," he further said.

Targeting the Opposition on the 81st anniversary of the Quit India Movement on Wednesday, Union Home Minister Amit Shah gave a slogan, "Corruption Quit India. Appeasement Quit India. Dynasty Quit India."
Training his guns on both the opposition and ruling BJP, Owaisi said that neither "dukandar" nor "chowkidar" opens their mouths when Muslims are oppressed.
"There are two fronts in this country. One is a 'dukandar' and the other is 'chowkidar'. When we are oppressed, neither opens its mouth. The UAPA (amendment) law was brought by (Home Minister) Amit Shah and these dukandars approved of it," Owaisi said.
