In the wake of the new strain of Covid-19 variant spreading rapidly in the UK, the Maharashtra government has announced a night curfew between 11 PM to 6 AM  in municipal corporation areas till 5 January. Issuing the latest SOPs, the state govt has also said that there will be 14 days compulsory institutional quarantine for those returning from Europe and the Middle East and the returnees from other countries to be home quarantined.


The decision was taken during a meeting chaired by CM Uddhav Thackeray to review the coronavirus situation in the state and implementation of preventive measures to curb the spread of the disease

India Suspends All Flights From the UK Till Dec 31


India has temporarily halted all the fights originating from the UK to India till December 31, in the wake of the new strain of Covid-19 variant spreading rapidly in the UK. The nine-day long ban will come into effect from 11:59 pm on December 22, till 11:59 pm on December 31.

"Considering the prevailing situation in the UK, the Indian government has decided that all flights originating from the UK to India shall be temporarily suspended till 11:59 pm, 31st December. This suspension to start with effect from 11.59 pm, 22nd December," Ministry of Civil Aviation stated.

Union Health Minister Dr. Harsh Vardhan has said that the government is alert about the spread of the mutant coronavirus strain in UK and there is no need to panic.
