Thiruvananthapuram: Amid new rise in Coronavirus cases, Kerala is set to impose new restrictions on locals as the number of active Covid cases crossed 40,000 and the test positivity rate rose over 10.
Chief secretary V.P. Joy held a review meeting where he decided upon increasing the Coronavirus restrictions imposed in the state.

As per the new order, shops in the state will be shut by 9 pm and hotels and restaurants can function only with 50 percent occupancy.
The number of people allowed for outdoor functions had been capped at 200 and for indoor functions and programmes only 100 will be allowed. The indoor programmes will also have to be completed within two hours.
According to the new order, these events cannot have feasts will not be allowed and guests can be served food packets instead.
To avoid over-crowding, mega malls and supermarkets will not be allowed to host major shopping events/festivals.
The Chief Secretary has also decided to impose stricter quarantine measures for those entering the state from outside. Those entering the state will now mandatory have to be in quarantine for one week.
Kerala on Monday reported 5,692 new Covid-19 cases along with 2,474 recoveries and 11 deaths. With this, the state's active cases have risen to 47,596, along with 11,20,174 total recoveries and the Death toll has reached 4,794.
Meanwhile, Haryana on Monday joined the list of states to have imposed a night curfew in the view of the Coronavirus spread.
