Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) leader Ajit Pawar and around 29 party MLAs arrived at Raj Bhawan on Sunday. An Oath ceremony will be held, Maharashtra BJP president Chandrashekhar Bawankule said, as per news agency ANI. In a sudden turn of events, Ajit Pawar could be sworn in as state deputy chief minister again. This comes after he chaired a meeting with party leaders at his residence earlier in the day. After the meeting, Ajit Pawar and other leaders reached Raj Bhawan where Maharashtra CM Eknath Shinde has also come.

Ahead of the swearing-in ceremony, Maharashtra Minister Sudhir Mungantiwar said that over 40 MLAs are extending support to the Shiv Sena-BJP government in the state.

"Almost the entire NCP will be joining. Ajit Pawar's post will be decided by CM Eknath Shinde. He will distribute the portfolios. The oath-taking ceremony will begin in 5 minutes," Mungantiwar said, as per ANI.

A meeting of NCP leaders was called at party leader Ajit Pawar’s residence on Sunday. NCP working president Supriya Sule, party leader Praful Patel and others reached Ajit Pawar's residence for the meeting, reported ANI. Leaders like Dilip Walse Patil, Hasan Mushrif, Dhananjay Munde, and Daulat Dorada also attended the meeting.

Notably, Ajit Pawar had expressed his desire to become NCP's state president a few days ago. If sources are to be believed, Ajit Pawar is trying to put pressure on party chief Sharad Pawar, however, the question remains if senior Pawar will listen to his nephew.

As per the information, Ajit Pawar does not want to be the leader of the opposition. Recently, Ajit Pawar had given a statement that he was not interested in continuing as the Leader of the Opposition. If he is given any new responsibility in the party, then he will fulfill it well, after which there was talk of a possible change in the party leadership within Maharashtra.
