National Herald Case Highlights: Congress leader Rahul Gandhi and several other party MPs were detained by police at Vijay Chowk as ED questioned Sonia Gandhi for the second day.

Congress president Sonia Gandhi was questioned by the Enforcement Directorate (ED) for over six hours on Tuesday in connection with the National Herald money laundering case even as party leaders and workers staged protests across several states. Gandhi has been asked to appear again on Wednesday.

The Congress chief was questioned for over two hours on July 21 when she replied to 28 questions put forth by the agency.

The Lok Sabha MP from Rae Bareli is reportedly being questioned on her involvement with the National Herald newspaper and alleged financial irregularities in Young Indian Private Limited. Young Indian Pvt Ltd owns the National Herald newspaper. Sonia and Rahul Gandhi are among the promoters and majority shareholders in Young Indian.

• Sonia Gandhi was asked around 55 questions so far in two days, ANI reported. Sonia Gandhi was asked the same set of questions that were asked to Rahul Gandhi during his five-day questioning.

• Deputy Commissioner of Police (New Delhi) Amrutha Guguloth said disciplinary action would be taken against the officials. "We are trying to identify the staff and disciplinary action would be initiated against the staff after identification," PTI quoted Guguloth as saying.
