Mumbai Terror Attack: From Celebrities To Sportsmen, India Remembers Its Bravehearts

Several personalities from entertainment to sports fraternity are remembering the bravehearts, while paying tribute to martyrs who laid down their lives in the 2008 terror attack.

26/11 Mumbai Attack: It’s 12 anniversary of the Mumbai terror attack that left the nation in state of despair and shock in which the security forces killed nine terrorists at the end of four-day long battle.  For victims’ family, the scars remain forever even as they moved on since 2008, when one of the deadliest terror attacks left 190 people dead and over 300 injured in the financial capital Mumbai. Former Indian skipper Sachin Tendulkar took to microblogging site and paid his tribute to martyrs.
Former India cricketer Virender Sehwag paid homage to Tukaram Omble.  He was a Mumbai police officer  martyred in action while fighting terrorists during the attacks, at Girgaum Chowpatty Mumbai. He is the one laid down his life while taking the bullets from Ajmal Kasab and helped in apprehending the terrorist alive.
Bollywood actor Randeep Hooda, Urmila Matondkar, Akshay Kumar also took to microblogging site Twitter and remembered the horrific day to express his tribute to the martyrs.
Among those who laid their lives in the 2008 terror attack are the then Anti-Terrorism Squad (ATS) chief Hemant Karkare, Army Major Sandeep Unnikrishnan, Mumbai's Additional Police Commissioner Ashok Kamte, Senior Police Inspector Vijay Salaskar and Assistant Sub-Inspector (ASI) Tukaram Omble. From Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Terminus to posh hotels including the Oberoi Trident, the Taj Mahal Hotel, Leopold Cafe and Cama Hospital to the Nariman House Jewish community centre, now renamed Nariman Light House, were among the destinations targeted.
