New Delhi: A 30-year-old woman, who was found lying unconscious at Khairani Road in the Saki Naka area on September 9 after being raped, has died during the treatment at a civic-run hospital early on Saturday, police said.


An official revealed that the victim had suffered serious injuries in her private parts and there was a severe loss of blood in the incident. She was fighting for life at the Rajawadi Hospital since the early hours of Friday, as reported by news agency PTI.


After raping the woman and brutally assaulting her with the rod, the accused had also attacked her with a knife, he said.

In a shocking incident, a 30-year old woman was raped inside a stationary tempo in the Sakinaka area of Mumbai. She sustained serious injuries as a rod was put in her private parts, the police had informed.


Mohan Chouhan (45), the accused, was arrested within a few hours of the incident, PTI quoted a police official as saying.


He said that the police control room received a call in the early hours of Friday that a man was thrashing a woman on Khairani Road. A police team rushed to the spot to find a woman lying in a pool of blood. She was taken to the civic-run Rajawadi hospital, the official added.


The preliminary probe revealed that the 30-year-old had been raped and also assaulted with an iron rod in her private parts. The incident had taken place inside a tempo parked on the roadside.



Bloodstains were found inside the vehicle. According to the doctors, the woman's condition was serious, the official said.


Acting on some leads, accused Chauhan was arrested under IPC sections 307 (attempt to murder) and 376 (rape) and further probe was on, he added as per the PTI report.


The shocking rape case has come as a grim reminder of the December 2012 case wherein, a young woman, referred to as 'Nirbhaya', was brutally gang-raped and assaulted inside a moving bus in Delhi, causing a wave of outrage across the country. She died in hospital after struggling for life for several days.


Meanwhile, giving assurance over delivering justice, Maharashtra Minister Nawab Malik said: "We will make sure that the charge-sheet is filed within a given frame of time and the case is fast-tracked to bring the accused to justice", ANI reported. 


Maharashtra Chief Minister's Office informed that CM Uddhav Thackeray has taken complete information about the rape incident and has spoken to Police Commissioner. According to the CMO, he said the case would be taken on a fast track and the victim would get justice. He also directed to expedite the investigation, ANI reported.
