A 42-year-old woman was allegedly gang-raped by three people who broke into her home, stabbed her with a sharp blade, and burned her private parts with cigarettes, news agency PTI reported on Sunday citing a Mumbai police official.

The incident occurred in Kurla in the early hours of Wednesday, according to the official, who added that the accused and victim live in the same neighbourhood.

"The accused raped her one by one and also performed unnatural sex. They singed her private parts with cigarettes and attacked her with a sharp weapon on the chest and both arms. One of the accused videoed the incident and threatened to circulate it if she approached police," the police official was quoted as saying by PTI.

The woman told her story to neighbours, who contacted an NGO, and an FIR was filed, according to a Kurla police station official.
