New Delhi: The Congress party held the meeting of its Steering Committee today where two major decisions were taken by the members. The first decision was to hold the plenary session of the party and the second was to have a discussion on the future course of action of the Bharat Jodo Yatra, reported news agency ANI.
The party has decided to hold ‘Hath se Hath Jodo Abhiyan’ which will be a two-month long campaign commencing from January 26.
“Today in the meeting of the Congress Steering Committee, we discussed two things. First is the plenary session of our party which we have decided to hold in the second half of February. It will be a 3-day session which will be held in Raipur,Chhattisgarh,” said Congress MP KC Venugopal.
“Second, we reviewed and discussed the future course of action for Bharat Jodo Yatra. We have decided to hold a massive campaign 'Hath se Hath Jodo Abhiyan' from January 26. It will be a two-month-long campaign,” he added.
Rahul Gandhi To Not Attend Parliament Winter Session
During the press briefing following the steering committee meeting, Venugopal told that Congress MP Rahul Gandhi will not be attending the winter session of the parliament due to his engagement in the Bharat Jodo Yatra.
Bharat Jodo Yatra is underway. It is not practical for Rahul Gandhi to attend the winter session of Parliament, he said, quoted by news agency ANI.
Rahul Gandhi’s Bharat Jodo Yatra will enter Rajasthan today from Jhalwar. The Yatra will pass through 7 assembly constituencies of Kota division where this journey will be of total 218 kilometres. The first constituency of the state on Bharat Jodo Yatra’s route, Jhalrapatan is also the seat of former Chief Minister Vasundhara Raje and the parliamentary constituency of her son Dushyant Singh. Vasundhara contests the election from this seat.
