Mizoram CM Zoramthanga Tenders Apology After Video Of Daughter Assaulting Doctor Goes Viral
Following the incident and ensuing protest by members of IMA Mizoram chapter, CM Zoramthanga took to his Instagram account saying that he had visited the dermatologist and offered an apology.
New Delhi: Mizoram Chief Minister Zoramthanga on Saturday tendered a public apology through his official Instagram account after his daughter, Milari Chhangte’s purported video surfaced online where she could be seen assaulting a doctor. CM Zoramthanga apologised for her daughter’s “misbehaviour” with the doctor earlier in the week adding that he would, in no way, justify her conduct, as per a PTI report.
Milari Changte, the CM’s only daughter, was recently seen hitting a doctor at a clinic in a purported video that went viral online.
The incident sparked outrage among the medical fraternity as around 800 doctors staged a protest on Saturday condemning the alleged assault.
Members of the Indian Medical Assosciation (IMA) - Mizoram chapter who had staged the protest wore black badges to their work places during the day.

As per one of the protestors, Lalhlutthangi Hmar, quoted by the news agency as saying, Chhangte assaulted the Aizawl-based dermatologist on Wednesday on being asked to get an appointment prior to her visit to the clinic for consultation.
“We want that such acts of violence against medical practitioners should never be repeated,” the association’s Mizoram chapter said in the statement.
Following the incident and ensuing protest, the Chief Minister took to his Instagram account saying that he had visited the dermatologist and offered an apology.
He also thanked the IMA for not initiating any “stringent action” against Chhangte.
"We have nothing to justify or say in defence of our daughter's behaviour towards the doctor. We ask forgiveness from the doctor and the public," the CM said.
Earlier, Chhangte's elder brother and CM Zoramthanga's son, Ramthansiama, also tendered an apology on social media stating that her sister "went out of control" due to mental stress.
