New Delhi: The Border Security Force (BSF) on Friday, seized huge quantities of contraband drugs containing Yaba tablets worth Rs 6.52 crores in Mizoram’s Kolasib district. The BSF personnel also apprehended two drug peddlers including one Myanmar national.
The security force recovered 1,30,492 units of the Yaba tablets weighing approximately 12.8 kilograms in possession from them, reports news agnecy ANI.
The apprehended peddlers were identified as Samir Dev, 49 year-old from Assam’s Cachar district and Solomon,a 36 year old Myanmar national.

38 battalions of BSF and Excise and Narcotics department of Kolasib district had jointly launched operation near Chhimluang village on National Highway - 306 in Kolasib district after receiving specific inputs by BSF regarding a deal of narcotics. The troops foiled the dealing of Narcotics Yaba tablets by detaining two individuals.
The BSF, in a press statement, stated that the market value of the seized Yaba tablets is estimated at Rs 6,52,46,000.
Smuggling of drugs is governed by The Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances Act or The NDPS Act, 1985.
