In a scathing attack against the BJP-led central government over the ongoing ethnic violence in Manipur, the Shiv Sena (UBT) on Saturday said that there should be a movie titled 'Manipur Files'. In recent times, the party said in its mouthpiece 'Saamana', movies like the ‘Tashkent Files’, ‘The Kerala Story’, and ‘The Kashmir Files’ have been made. The same people should make a move titled 'Manipur Files'. This comes after the Manipur viral video, showing two women being paraded naked by a mob, sparking national outrage.

The party slammed Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Manipur Chief Minister N Biren Singh in 'Saamana' and claimed that the violence and atrocities in the northeastern states are worse than even those in Kashmir. The Uddhav Thackeray group said had the Supreme Court not taken cognisance of the matter, the Prime Minister would not have spoken on the Manipur violence at all.

On Thursday, PM Modi said that the incident in Manipur has shamed 140 crore Indians, asserting that the law will act with its full might and no guilty will be spared. The Sena UBT party also said that if there was a non-BJP government in the state, the situation would have been different by now. It claimed that Manipur is politically insignificant for the prime minister which is why the situation in the state is being ignored.

The party said 60,000 central paramilitary forces have been stationed in Manipur and yet there is no let-up in the violence. “This means the situation has gone out of control of the PM and the (Union) Home minister,” the editorial added.

On Saturda, another accused in the viral video case was taken into custody, taking the total number of arrested to five. CM N Biren Singh said that the government would try to get maximum punishment for the accused.
