New Delhi: Union Home Minister Amit Shah on Friday said that the ruling Bharatiya Janata Party government fulfilled its promise of making Manipur "totally free from terrorism" and bandhs. He further promised that the government with making Manipur drug-free by the next election.
"We had promised to make Manipur free from terrorism, today Manipur is completely free from terrorism and is walking on the path of development under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi and CM N Biren Singh," he said addressing a gathering in Moirang, as quoted by news agency ANI.
We wiped out insurgency and lifted AFSPA from six districts of Manipur, the Union Home Minister stressed after inaugurating 12 projects in the state, as per news agency PTI.
He assured that the BJP government will make Manipur drug-free by the next election.

Shah Lays Foundation Stone For Projects Worth Rs 1,300 Crore
In Bishnupur district's Moirang, the Union home minister inaugurated and laid the foundation stone for projects worth Rs 1,300 crore. He also inaugurated the hill district's first medical college and hospital earlier.
The projects include the Manipur Olympian Park at Sangaithel, a paid private ward at state-run Jawaharlal Nehru Institute of Medical Sciences (JNIMS), Moreh town water supply scheme, Nongpok Thong Bridge at the eastern side of Kangla Fort and cave tourism project at Kangkhui cave.
Foundation stones were laid for the construction of 40 police outposts, 34 of which will be along the India-Myanmar international border and six along National Highway 37.
Amit Shah unveiled a 120-foot-tall statue of a polo player riding a pony at Marjing Polo Complex in Manipur's Imphal East district. Manipur is considered the birthplace of the game.
Shah was given a polo mallet and a painting of the game by Chief Minister N Biren Singh.
