Kanjhawala Drag Case: In the latest twist in the case, the police have revealed that only four accused were there in the car at the time of the accident and Deepak, who they claimed to be driving the car, was at home.

Police unearthed the truth after checking Deepak’s location which showed that he was at home when the accident took place. The car was being driven by another accused Amit, a relative of Deepak. Since Amit did not have a driving license, the accused decided to tell police that it was Deepak who was driving the car.

Police have arrested Deepak on the charges of assisting the culprits and misleading the investigation.

Delhi police held a press conference on Thursday to address the questions of the case. It said that no evidence has been found yet to register the Kanjhawala case as a murder, adding that two more people were involved in the gruesome crime taking the total number of accused in the case from 5 to 7.

The police also said that Nidhi is a "crucial" witness in the case.

"Nidhi is a crucial witness. Her statement was recorded under IPC Section 164 in the court so that allegation is not levelled that police recorded the statement," said Sagar Preet Hooda, Special Commissioner of Police, Law and Order.

The Delhi Police said that neither Nidhi, the victim's friend, nor the victim herself had any connection with the accused and added that 18 teams are investigating the matter.
