Man in news, Akhilesh Yadav: Journey from Kannauj MP to CM UP
New Delhi: Akhilesh Yadav the Chief Minister of Uttar Pradesh and also, according to his supports, National President of Samajwadi Party is in news these days for friction with his father Mulayam Singh Yadav.
The 20th Chief Minister of the most populous state of India, the Uttar Pradesh, he is the youngest person to have held this office.
With a master's degree in environmental engineering from the University of Sydney, Australia, junior Yadav is all set to fight the election, on development plank, to become the CM of the state, again.
Here let's have a look at his political journey:

- Year 2000: This was his first significant success in politics. He was elected as a member of the Lok Sabha for the Kannauj constituency.
- In the year 2000–2001, he became Member of the Committee on Ethics.
- In the year 2004–2009, he was elected as a member of the 14th Lok Sabha for a second term.
- During these five years, he, at times, also became a member of the committees like Committee on Urban Development, Committee on Science and Technology, Committee on Provision of Computers for various departments and Committee on Environment and Forests.
- In 2009, Akhilesh Yadav was elected to the 15th Lok Sabha for a third term.
- However, 10th March 2012 proved to be a zenith day for him when he was appointed as leader of the Samajwadi Party (SP) in Uttar Pradesh (UP).
- On 15th March 2012, at the age of 38 years, he became the youngest Chief Minister of UP.
- On 5 May 2012, he became a Member of the Uttar Pradesh Legislative Council too.
The following day he was elected as the national head of Samajwadi party by his party's national convention in Lucknow, replacing his father who termed it as illegal.
However, this feud has landed both the parties into the door of Election Commission with both claiming to be national president of the Samajwadi Party.
The 17th UP Legislative Assembly election will be held from February 11 to March 8, 2017 in 7 phases. Only the result will tell that whether we will see young Chief Minister of UP as the CM of the state again.
