Kolkata: Launching a vitriolic attack on West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee, Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) MP Arjun Singh on Thursday called the Trinamool Congress (TMC) supremo a “liar”.
“Mamata Banerjee lies and this has been proved before the Calcutta High Court as well,” he said.
The BJP leader threw light on the report of the National Human Rights Commission (NHRC) panel, which slams the TMC government over post-poll violence in West Bengal.

“Mamata Banerjee said that there has been no violence after the elections and the National Human Rights Commission is roaming in the violence-hit areas as per the directions of the High Court and the court has ordered the police to protect the lives of the people. This is the difference between what Mamata Banerjee says and what the court says,” he added.
Continuing his outburst, the BJP leader alleged that fake Covid-19 vaccines are in circulation in West Bengal and the saffron party is protesting against the same.
“The Bharatiya Janata Party staged a protest in front of the Police Commissioner’s office regarding the fake Covid-19 vaccination scam. Despite the presence of heavy police personnel, the some TMC goons came and attacked those protesting and those goons were none other than the famous criminals of the area,” said Singh.
“Say it to be my misfortune or the TMC’s good luck, I was a bit late in reaching or else the TMC would have got a befitting reply today in front of the Police Commissioner’s office. Many of our workers, including women and those from the Yuva Morcha, are injured. The police was watching the spectacle,” he added.
The BJP leader further said the thread of violence in West Bengal has now become intolerable.
“There is a word in Indian law called self-defence, it is applicable to every man. Be it a small child or an officer. For how long will be propagate that we love peace? It’s enough now and I am openly challenging the Trinamool Congress that if anything happens to any of our workers in Barrackpore then we will agitate but within the ambit of the law,” he added.
Talking about the arrest of some terrorists in West Bengal, the BJP MP said that they would meet the Commanding Officer of the area in this regard while stating the police is not able to manage the situation and military intelligence should be involved.
“Otherwise, the people can be attacked at any time,” he added.

Singh also cornered the TMC over the remarks made by its leaders that all is not well in the BJP.
“The people are seeing what is happening. Those who are leaving the BJP, somewhere they thought that BJP would come to power in the state post the elections. Now, they are leaving as the party did not form the government,” he added.
