Major negligence by Jet Airways crew; passengers suffer through nose, ear bleeding
As per initial information, around 30 passengers suffered nose bleeding and few complained of ear bleeding. Some passengers also complained of head ache.
New Delhi: In a major lapse, Jet Airways B737 aircraft operating flight 9W 697 between Mumbai and Jaipur on Thursday had air turnback to Mumbai, after passengers complained nose and ear bleeding due to negligence of the crew.
The Mumbai –Jaipur flight had to be return back after the crew forgot to select bleed switch, due to which cabin pressurization could not be maintained. As a result of which, Oxygen masks got deployed.
As per initial information, around 30 passengers suffered nose bleeding and few complained of ear bleeding. Some passengers also complained of head ache.
As per reports, 166 passengers were onboard. All the affected passengers are currently being attended by doctors at the airport.
No statement has been issued by the Airlines so far.
Speaking on the incident, Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) said "The crew has been taken off duty and Aircraft Accident Investigation Bureau (AAIB) has started an investigation".
In view of incidents reported related to passengers' safety,Civil Aviation Minister Suresh Prabhu has directed DGCA to prepare safety audit plan involving assessment of safety parameters of airlines,aerodromes,flying training schools&MROs (Maintenance,repair&overhaul) immediately
