New Delhi: With over 2 lakh cases of Covid 19, Maharashtra is one of the worst affected states in the country due to coronavirus. Not surprisingly, when a bunch of burglars planned their heist they seemed to have taken health into consideration. According to a report by PTI, burglars wore PPE suits and looted a jewelry store in Satara district. The report says CCTV footage captures burglars in personal protective equipment robbing a jewelry store. The Police on Tuesday said that these PPE burglars fled with 780 gms of gold.

In the footage it can be seen burglars taking hold of the gold jewellery from the showcases and cupboards within the jewellery store in Phaltan area, police said

The footage is from a 2-day-old incident which occurred during the coronavirus-induced lockdown, the burglars were wearing caps, masks, plastic jackets, and hand-gloves taking the jewellery from the display cases. The shop owner told the police that the burglars broke in through the shop wall.

The shop owner has registered a complaint at the Phaltan police station, who said the burglars took away 78 'tola' (one tola is 10 gm) gold. The police say that a case has been filed.

Maharashtra is one of the worst affected states in India due to coronavirus. So far the state has recorded a total of 2,11,987  Covid 19 cases. The state has 87699  active cases and 9026 fatalities.
