Coronavirus in India: India which is now the third worst-hit country by Coronavirus, on Tuesday achieved yet another grim milestone, by surpassing 7 lakh-mark in the overall Covid-19 tally. It saw another huge jump in the number of fresh cases with 22,252 new cases and 467 deaths in the last 24 hours. As per the Union Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, India's Covid-19 case tally crossed 7-lakh mark with 22,252 new cases and 467 deaths in the last 24 hours. Total positive cases stand at 7,19,665 including 2,59,557 active cases, 4,39,948 cured/discharged/migrated 20,160 deaths.

Total samples tested:

The total number of samples tested up to July 6 is 1,02,11,092 of which 2,41,430 samples were tested yesterday, the Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR) said.

Worst-hit states:

Maharashtra continues to remain the worst-affected state due to COVID-19 with 2,11,987 cases, out of which 87,699 are active, 1,15,262 have been cured/discharged and 9,026 have died. It is followed by Tamil Nadu (1,14,978) and Delhi (1,00,823).

Global tally:

A ccording to the Johns Hopkins University, overall number of global COVID-19 cases has increased to more than 11.5 million, while the deaths have soared to over 537,000, On Tuesday morning, the total number of cases stood at 11,590,195, while the fatalities rose to 537,429, the University's Center for Systems Science and Engineering (CSSE) revealed in its latest update.

The US accounted for the world's highest number of infections and fatalities with 2,935,008 and 130,277, respectively, according to the CSSE. Brazil came in the second place with 1,623,284 infections and 65,487 deaths. It is followed by India.
