Maharashtra Political Crisis: Shiv Sena Refutes Claim Of CM Uddhav Contacting BJP Leader Fadnavis

It was also claimed that Thackeray spoke with Fadnavis on June 21 tried reaching out to BJP high command also but could not contact them.

New Delhi: Amid the political crisis, Maharashtra Chief Minister and Shiv Sena chief Uddhav Thackeray had contacted Leader of Opposition in Maharashtra and BJP leader Devendra Fadnavis in a bid to save the government, sources told ABP News. Thackeray had dialed Fadnavis' number on June 21 in an attempt to save the Maharashtra government from losing numbers in the legeslative assembly as Shiv Sena legislators were migrating to Shinde camp.

The sources also told ABP News that the Shiv Sena chief had also tried to speak with high command of the Bharatiya Janata Party but was not able to contact them. 

The Shiv Sena, however, refuted the claim saying that no talks took place between the two leaders regarding the same adding that Uddhav comes out in public and says whatever he wants to, reported ABP News.  

Meanwhile, there are speculations that Maharashtra governor, Bhagat Singh Koshyari may call a floor test in next two days, after Eknath Shinde and his faction got a releif from the Supreme Court which asked the deputy speaker of Maharashtra to hold the disqualification notices against the 16 rebel Shiv Sena MLAs as per ABP News sources.

Next 48 hours are said to be crucial for the Maha Vikas Agahdi government which has been holding meetings regularly in a bid to remain in the power. 

On Monday, Eknath Shinde had filed a petition in the Supreme Court against the disqualification notices sent to him and other rebel legislators in which he stated that the Uddhav Thackeray-led MVA government has lost the majority in the Maharashtra Legeslative Assembly as 38 of the 55 MLAs have withdrawn their support to the coalition, news agency ANI reported.
