Thane Municipal Corporation says that the rescue operation is being conducted to save the people trapped in the debris. At the same time, a team will be formed to investigate the main cause behind the accident.
The corporation said that the team will find out the main causes and strict action will be taken against those found guilty.
People present there at the time of the incident say that the building collapsed suddenly. Meanwhile, congested space has made the rescue operation very difficult to rescue.
Residents complain that a lot of such mishaps happen in the Ulhasnagar area.
"Just one slab has collapsed, what if the whole building had collapsed? How much compensation can be given for the lives lost," a local told ABP News.
More updates regarding the mishap are awaited.
