Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath on Friday met Prime Minister Narendra Modi at his residence in Delhi and personally extended him an invitation to attend the Maha Kumbh Mela in Prayagraj.
The Maha Kumbh 2025 is scheduled to be held in Prayagraj, UP from January 13 to February 26. The upcoming religious event, held every 12 years, is considered the most sacred gatherings in Hinduism and begins with the Paush Purnima Snan at the Triveni Sangam.
After the meeting, Yogi Adityanath wrote in a post on X: "Made a courtesy visit to honourable Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modiji today in New Delhi. With your guidance and inspiration, Maha Kumbh-2025, Prayagraj, a symbol of eternal pride, is today showing the world the 'New India' in its divine, grand and digital form. Heartfelt thanks for giving your valuable time, Mr. Prime Minister."
Yogi Adityanath on Wednesday said the Maha Kumbh is projected to generate up to Rs 2 lakh crore in economic growth with an expected turnout of 40 crore devotees this year.
Meanwhile, spiritual leaders have started arriving in Prayagraj for the Maha Kumbh 2025.
On December 30, Yogi Adityanath had invited President Droupadi Murmu and several other dignitaries including Vice President Jagdeep Dhankar, former President Ram Nath Kovind, Home Minister Amit Shah, Defence Minister Rajnath Singh, BJP National Chief JP Nadda, Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman, and Delhi LG VK Saxena among others.
Yogi Adityanath Inaugurates 'Maa Ki Rasoi'
Earlier today, the UP Chief Minister inaugurated a community kitchen initiative in Mahakumbh Nagar offering a full meal for just Rs 9. The kitchen, called 'Maa Ki Rasoi', is operated by the Nandi Sewa Sansthan at Swaroop Rani Nehru Hospital and is meant for economically weaker sections.
He inaugurated the community kitchen during his visit to Prayagraj to review arrangements and also personally served food to the attendees.
"The Nandi Sewa Sansthan has launched this initiative to support economically weaker sections of society. Under this program, people can enjoy a full meal for just Rs 9. The meal includes dal, four rotis, vegetables, rice, salad, and a dessert," the UP government said in a statement.
The attendees of the Maha Kumbh will witness a spectacular drone show, showcasing tales linked to the Maha Kumbh and Prayagraj. The drone show will feature nearly 2,000 drones which will illuminate the skies over Sangam Nose during the opening and conclusion of the religious event, a press release said.
