'Maha Jumla': Rahul Gandhi Responds To Centre's 10 Lakh Job Announcement, Takes Swipe At PM Modi

Rahul Gandhi's remarks came hours after Prime Minister Narendra Modi instructed to fill 10 lakh vacancies in all the departments and ministries in mission mode in next one-and-a-half years.

Former Congress President Rahul Gandhi on Tuesday took to Twitter and slammed Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) led Central government over its announcement of providing 10 lakh jobs to countrymen in the next year and a half. In his tweet, Rahul Gandhi said that this is a government of not 'jumlas' but "maha jumlas". This comes hours after Prime Minister Narendra Modi instructed to fill 10 lakh vacancies in all the departments and ministries in mission mode in next one-and-a-half years.

"Just like eight years ago the youth were deceived with a promise of 2 crore jobs every year, in the same manner it is now the turn of 10 lakh government jobs." "This is a government of not 'jumlas' (rhetoric) but 'maha jumlas'," Rahul Gandhi tweeted in Hindi.

PM Modi's direction came soon after he chaired a meeting to review of the status of human resource in all government departments and ministries.

"PM @narendramodi reviewed the status of Human Resources in all departments and ministries and instructed that recruitment of 10 lakh people be done by the Government in mission mode in next 1.5 years," Prime Minister's Office tweeted earlier in the day.

In his tweet, the Wayanad MP also alleged that the Prime Minister is not an expert at creating jobs, but in creating 'news' over jobs.

Responding to Gandhi's allegations, Union Minister Anurag Thakur said he thought the Congress leader would welcome the decision, but he is too busy dealing with other issues.

"I thought Rahul Gandhi would welcome the decision of filling 10 lakh posts in GoI. But rather than welcoming the decision, he is too busy dealing with other issues, to show his happiness towards this," Thakur told news agency ANI.
