In a shocking incident, a 30-year-old Madrasa teacher allegedly murdered his six-year-old son by strangling him on Sunday morning at her home in Palakkad.
The alleged accused named Shahida, who is said to be pregnant, dialed the emergency control room in Palakkad between three and four o'clock on Sunday. As per her information to the police, she sacrificed her son to 'please Allah'.
When a team of police reached her house, she met them at the gate and had injuries on her arm. Police found the child in the bathroom, soaked in blood, with his throat slit and legs tied.
“The FIR says what the mother told the police. Whether ‘sacrifice to Allah’ indeed the reason or not will be determined only after a thorough investigation," said R. Viswanath, Superintendent of Police (Palakkad).
Shahida's husband Suleman and his two other children were sleeping in the second bedroom. All three were unaware of the incident. Shahida's husband Suleman, who was employed in the Gulf, is working as a taxi driver in the city of Palakkad.
Shahida has been booked under section 302 (murder) of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) of the IPC.
