New Delhi: In a compassionate approach, some Indore police officers purchased a motorbike for a 22-year-old employee of an online food delivery service after witnessing him working hard on his bicycle to deliver food packages to people's houses, news agency PTI reported.
In charge of the Vijay Nagar police station, Tehzeeb Qazi claimed on Monday that he recently observed Jay Halde drenched in perspiration while cycling rapidly to distribute food packs in Madhya Pradesh.
“After talking to the man, we came to know that his family is facing financial problems and he does not have the money to buy a motorcycle,” the official was quoted by PTI in its report.
Qazi and other Vijay Nagar police officers then contributed funds to make an initial payment at an automotive showroom and purchase a motorbike for Halde.
According to the official, the delivery guy has informed the police that he would pay the remaining instalments himself.
Expressing gratitude to the Police for their gesture, Halde said, “Earlier I used to deliver six to eight food parcels on my bicycle, but now I am delivering 15-20 food parcels at night while moving around on the motorbike.”
