Parliament Session Updates: Rajnath Singh's Response To Rahul Gandhi's Agniveer Remark

"I would like to humbly request the leader of the opposition not to try to mislead Parliament. Regarding the Agniveer scheme, direct communication was established with many people, 158 organisations, their suggestions were taken, then this Agniveer scheme was brought. This scheme has been brought after a lot of thought." "And, I would also like to make it clear that these kinds of schemes are operational in many countries. It is there in the US, in the UK. People there do not have any objection. Without understanding the Agniveer scheme, without getting proper information about it... to mislead the House like this, can not be deemed appropriate".

Singh later posted a video clip on 'X', showing his response to Gandhi's claims in the House on the scheme.

"...This scheme has been brought after a lot of thought," he wrote.

The Agnipath scheme, announced on June 14, 2022, provides for the recruitment of youths between the age bracket of 17-and-half years and 21 for only four years, with a provision to retain 25 per cent of them for 15 more years. The government extended the upper age limit to 23 years later that year. (PTI Inputs)

The position of Leader of Opposition is a very responsible position...Rahul ji has taken up a responsibility for the first time but despite taking up responsibility for the first time, today he has given very irresponsible statement. He said that no compensation is given to the martyrs, there can be no bigger lie than this. Today, when he was giving his speech, the Defence Minister clarified in the House itself that the martyrs get a compensation of Rs 1 crore. He should look at his facts. It is not that Congress has raised questions on the Army for the first time, Congress has always raised such questions on the Army and tried to mislead the country.
He did not say anything about Hindus. He talked about the mindset of BJP, the mindset and ideology of RSS. His statement was not for Hindus, it was for the people of BJP, RSS.
One special thing about this session is that due to fear of the mandate, people in the ruling party are chanting the Constitution. There are people among them who are also objecting to the slogan “Jai Samvidhaan” in the Parliament. That is why this issue of protecting the Constitution still remains. The people of India have seen and examined their real intentions, thoughts and motives.
"The committee members that announced my expulsion from the House, the chairperson of the committee has lost, and the lady who initiated the debate on my expulsion has lost. And most of the then-legislators have lost. Much like Lord Krishna protected Draupadi, the people of Krishnanagar have protected me."
"Ek akela kitnon par bhaari pada. Abki baar 400 paar. It is so ironic that the Prime Minister himself had to come to social media and tell people that no, it is not 'Modi ka Parivar', but NDA, Nitish-Naidu Dependent Alliance. You ignored Muslims, marginalised Kashmiris. You politicised Ram. But we have 33 crore deities and above all comes, the ganadevata, the people of the country, and it has punished".
The last time I stood here I was not allowed to speak. But the ruling party has paid a very heavy price for throttling the voice of one MP. In an attempt to suppress me, the public made 63 of your members sit permanently
