Decided To Support Congress-Led UDF In Kerala: SDPI State President Ashraf Moulavi, Satheesan Denies 'Any Understanding'
During a press interaction in Muvattupuzha, SDPI state President Ashraf Moulavi stated that after careful consideration, the party has opted to support the UDF, a secular coalition, in Kerala. "In Kerala, we have decided to support the Congress-led UDF which is spearheading the anti-BJP bloc," Moulavi said. He further noted that the SDPI has refrained from fielding any candidates in Kerala but has endorsed 18 candidates in other parts of the country, PTI reported.
"Our Constitution is being challenged. The BJP is bringing in laws to provide citizenship based on religion. A Uniform Civil Code is planned, which will affect the diversity of the country. We will support the Congress-led UDF which is fighting the BJP at the national level," Moulavi emphasised.
As per PTI, V D Satheesan highlighted that various parties are supporting the UDF, and said, "We have not held any discussion with the SDPI nor have reached any understanding." Polling is scheduled to take place in Kerala on April 26 for the Lok Sabha elections, with nationwide results set to be declared on June 4.
