New Delhi: During a public rally in Sidhi, Madhya Pradesh, Defence Minister Rajnath Singh launched a scathing attack on the Congress party, accusing it of having an inseparable association with corruption. Singh likened this relationship to the lyrics of the song 'Tu chal main aayi,' suggesting that wherever Congress goes, corruption follows. Rajnath Singh further took a dig at Rahul Gandhi, saying that like Mahendra Singh Dhoni in cricket, the Congress leader was the best finisher of Indian politics.
Rajnath Singh advocated for the implementation of 'one-nation, one-election,' asserting that it would streamline the electoral process and conserve both time and resources. He countered Congress' objections by stating that simultaneous elections would bolster Indian democracy. Singh proposed a biennial election cycle, comprising contests for local bodies, assemblies, and the Lok Sabha, to be held over a five-year period, reported PTI.
Highlighting India's economic progress, Singh referenced predictions by major financial firms forecasting India's ascent to the top three global economies by 2027. He credited the PM Modi government for elevating India from the 11th to the top five economies over the past decade, expressing confidence that India would emerge as a superpower by 2045.
While citing terror activities during the UPA rule, the defence minister averred that India wants good relations with Pakistan. He reiterated India's commitment to maintaining good relations with its neighbors, citing former Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee's principle that while friends may change, neighbors remain constant.
"If provoked, India is no longer a weak country and can even take action by going across the border if necessary", Singh said, adding that the country has already demonstrated this in the last ten years.
PM Modi's Guarantee Is To Save People From Hardship: Rajnath
Defence Minister on Saturday said the BJP walks the talk and Prime Minister Narendra Modi's guarantee is to save citizens from hardship, while the useless opposition is spreading hatred. During a rally in support of Dr. Rajesh Mishra, the BJP candidate for the Sidhi Lok Sabha seat, Rajnath Singh criticised the Congress-led UPA rule, alleging widespread corruption that resulted in the incarceration of several ministers, reported PTI.
"Prime Minister Narendra Modi speaks the truth. Modi ki guarantee is to save people from trouble and hardship. The BJP does what it says. It walks the talk. Since the time of Bharatiya Jan Sangh we have kept our word", Singh said at a rally here.
Rajnath reaffirmed the BJP's commitment to fulfilling every promise outlined in its manifesto, citing achievements such as the construction of the Ram Temple and the abrogation of Article 370 in Jammu and Kashmir. Singh accused the opposition of spreading hatred and misinformation. He emphasised the BJP's ethos of serving the people rather than governing them and highlighted the absence of corruption allegations against the NDA government in the past decade. In contrast, Singh pointed to the numerous scams and arrests of ministers during the Congress-led UPA rule from 2004 to 2014.
"Former PM Rajiv Gandhi used to say only 14 paise out of every rupee allotted for development reached the rightful beneficiary due to corruption, but Modi, using schemes like Jan Dhan, has ensured every paisa reaches the last person in society", Singh claimed.
Rajnath Singh asserted that under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, the country's borders are fully secure. In the electoral battleground of Sidhi, BJP's Dr. Rajesh Mishra faces off against Congress' Kamlesh Patel, with the polls slated for April 19th.
