Weather Update: Temperatures Set To Rise Next Fortnight After Wet Winter, Informs IMD

Weather Update: Strong surface winds are likely to prevail over Haryana, Chandigarh, Delhi, UP on Feb 19-20.

New Delhi: The India Meteorological Department (IMD) on Thursday said the minimum temperatures are set to increase across the nation over from the next fortnight.

Due to the effect of warm air coming from the Bay of Bengal, now the cold has started reducing in some states. With this, the minimum temperature will increase.

Meteorologists said that the weather will remain dry for some days. Along with this, above normal rainfall is expected in the extreme southern peninsula and the Andaman and Nicobar Islands.

According to the Meteorological Department, there will be light to moderate rains in some areas of Tamil Nadu and Kerala for the next five days. Apart from this, light rain has also been predicted in Lakshadweep for the next two days.

Due to the western disturbance, there will be rain and snowfall in the areas of Jammu and Kashmir, Ladakh, etc. for the next five days. Also, rain and snowfall have been predicted in Uttarakhand between February 20 and in Himachal Pradesh between February 18 and 20.

The Meteorological Department has said that Andaman and Nicobar may also receive heavy rains for three days. Apart from this, light rain has also been predicted in states like West Bengal, Sikkim.

According to the Meteorological Department, the minimum temperature of Delhi is likely to remain 8 degrees Celsius, while the maximum temperature is likely to be 26 degrees Celsius. The sky will be completely clear. The minimum temperature is expected to be 13 degrees Celsius in Bhopal, the capital of Madhya Pradesh, while the maximum temperature will be 29 degrees Celsius. 

There is no change in the minimum temperature in Chandigarh as compared to the past days. Apart from this, the minimum temperature of Jaipur is expected to be 12 degrees Celsius and the maximum temperature is 26 degrees Celsius.

The weather department said all India cumulative rainfall during the current year's colder time of year Season till February 16 was above the long period average (LPA) by 61.6 percent and over northwest India, it was above LPA by 72%.

The climate office said solid surface breezes (25-35 kmph) were likely to prevail over Haryana-Chandigarh-Delhi and Uttar Pradesh on February 19 and 20.

According to the Meteorological Department, by the end of February, the effect of cold and fog can be reduced significantly. During this time the temperature is likely to increase rapidly.

At the same time, air pollution is being recorded at the moderate or poor level in UP and Bihar. But due to the rains in the coming days, the situation of pollution is also expected to improve.
