Kolkata: University Professor Asked To Quit After Student's Father Complains Of Her Bikini Pics On Instagram

The former assistant professor accused the university of forcing her to quit after receiving a written complaint from a first-year male undergraduate student’s father last year.

A professor at St Xavier’s University in Kolkata was allegedly asked to quit after parent of a student complained that he had noticed his son looking at photos of her in bikini on Instagram. According to reports, the former assistant professor accused the university of forcing her to quit after receiving a written complaint from a first-year male undergraduate student’s father last year.

However, the St Xavier’s University rejected the claims made by the professor and stated that she had quit the job voluntarily. The complaint was written by the father of a first-year male undergraduate student.

In the letter, the father alleged that he had caught his son looking at the 'objectionable' and 'vulgar' picture of the former professor.

"Recently, I was appalled to find my son looking at some pictures of Prof. where she has posed in a sexually explicit way causing deliberate public exposure. To look at a teacher dressed in her undergarments and uploading pictures on social media is utterly shameful for me as a parent since I have tried to shield my son from this kind of gross indecency and objectification of the female body. It is obscene, vulgar, and improper for an 18-year-old student to see his professor dressed in scanty clothes exhibiting her body on a public platform," the complaint letter read.

The father of the student was identified as BK Mukherjee and the complaint letter has gone viral on social media.

Following the objection raised by parent, the University authorities called the professor for a meeting where is was informed about the incident. The concerned officials also shown her the complaint letter along with pictures of her private Instagram account. Thereafter, the professor alleged that she was asked to resign from the job as she had caused damage to the reputation of the university.

She said that university's decision to sack her constituted sexual harassment and intentional character assassination.

The professor also claimed to have filed a police complaint back in October 2021 after her Instagram account got hacked which might have led to distribution of her personal pictures.
