Kerala: Robbers break into Mathrubhumi News Editor's house, brutally attack him, wife
“They tied my eyes and mouth and started beating me up. They did the same to my wife. Fortunately, I was able to remove the knot after they left or I would have died,” Chandran reportedly told Mathrubhumi news.
Kochi: In a shocking incident, a news editor of Mathrubhumi newspaper and his wife were bludgeoned by a gang of thieves who barged into their house during the wee hours of Thursday.
Vinod Chandran, news editor at Mathrubhumi’s Kannur division in the Thazhe Chovva area, and his wife Saritha heard a noise of some people trespassing into their house through the front door. They were overpowered by the robbers while they went out of their bedroom to inquire.
The couple was tied up, blindfolded and brutally thrashed by the by the burglars who reportedly fled with Rs 35,000 and over two dozen gold ornaments. The husband and wife were rushed to the ICU division of a nearby hospital by the police who were called for help. The two suffered serious injuries to their neck and face. Visuals aired on Mathrubhumi news showed Chandran’s red bruised eye and injury marks on Saritha’s face.

Inspector Pradeepan who is a part of the investigation told theminute.com that “the group of men involved in the crime is suspected to belong to a gang outside Kerala as they were reportedly conversing in Hindi and English.”
