Kerala floods: Railways to transport relief materials for free

New Delhi [India], Aug 18 (ANI): Union Railways Minister Piyush Goyal on Saturday announced that Railways will provide free transportation of relief material for Kerala through various state government agencies, Public Sector Undertakings (PSUs) and other Government agencies.

Expressing his concern over Kerala floods, Goyal tweeted, "We are concerned about the well being of people affected by Kerala floods & the Central Govt. is committed to providing all possible help. Railways will now provide free transportation of relief material for Kerala through various State Govt. agencies, PSUs & other Govt. agencies."

Kerala has been facing the worst flooding in a century. The death toll, ever since the monsoon season began this year, has crossed 300.

Earlier, Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Chief Ministers of various states extended financial aid to the flood-hit state. (ANI)
