New Delhi: After the arrest of three persons in connection with the murder of Rajput Karni Sena chief Sukhdev Singh Gogamedi on Sunday, Jaipur Commissioner of Police Biju George Joseph said their main target is to reach the kingpin in the case, news agency ANI reported. Gogamedi was shot dead by unidentified assailants at his residence on December 5.
“We were continuously tracking the accused in the murder case since December 5. Soon the team received info about them and started tracking. Haryana Police and Punjab Police also helped us in our work. Two shooters and the one who was providing logistical assistance were arrested from outside a hotel in Chandigarh Sector 22 yesterday. They have been brought to Rajasthan and further investigation will be done. We are tracking all details from the past. Our main target is to reach the kingpin,” ANI quoted Joseph as saying.
Deputy Commissioner of Police (Crime) Amit Goel told news agency PTI that the alleged shooters who were arrested were staying on fake IDs at a hotel in Chandigarh and had planned to flee the country. They had also been promised Rs 50,000 each to kill Gogamedi.
Goel further said that the arms used in the commission of the crime are yet to be recovered.
According to initial input, the shooters fled to Didwana in a taxi and took a bus Delhi. Then they got down in Dharuhera and took an autorickshaw to Rewari railway station from where they boarded a train to Hisar, police said. They met the third accused who helped them lie low.
The duo hired a taxi for Manali in Himachal Pradesh where they stayed for a couple of days and later came back to Chandigarh on December 9, police said as reported by PTI.
They forged Aadhar cards and stayed at a hotel under fake names. The two alleged killers were identified as Rohit Rathore from Jaipur and Nitin Fauji from Haryana's Mahendragarh.
