"There are religious organisations who think otherwise, I have asked the police to keep a watch on them. Those who cause hindrance or undermine this country's unity, they have to be dealt with," he had said.

On Wednesday, some students of the Government First Grade College have protested wearing saffron stoles allegedly against certain students for wearing hijabs to classes, reports ANI.

The controversy sparked in the month of December when several Muslim students were not allowed to enter the classes for wearing hijabs. They spent almost a month without attending the classes before the college was shut down after a few students tested positive for Covid-19.

The college, however, in a statement said that it took that steps to maintain 'uniformity', this news web portal reported earlier.

One of the students who protesting are protesting for permission to attend classes with hijab has moved to the state High Court seeking relief. The student who goes by the name Resham Farooq, has requested the declaration of the wearing of hijab as a fundamental right under articles 14 and 25 of the Indian constitution. The student has sought interim order from the High Court regarding students attending classes wearing hijab.
