Karnataka Government Crisis: Fresh Blow To Kumaraswamy Govt As Another MLA Withdraws Support
In his resignation letter to the Governor, Nagesh said that he has withdrawn his support from the government headed by HD Kumaraswamy and expressed his readiness to support the Bharatiya Janata Party in forming fresh government.
New Delhi: Minister in Karnataka cabinet and independent MLA H Nagesh resigned from his post on Monday, pushing the already crippled coalition government of JDS and Congress a step closer to the edge.
In his resignation letter to the Governor Vajubhai Vala, Nagesh said that he has withdrawn his support from the government headed by HD Kumaraswamy and expressed his readiness to support the Bharatiya Janata Party in forming fresh government.
“I've already withdrawn my support to government headed by HD Kumaraswamy. I would further by this letter unequivocally state I would extend my support to the Govt of BJP if called for by your good self,” he stated in his letter.

So far, 13 MLAs of the alliance had already submitted their resignations to the Speaker so far, the fresh resignation by the independent MLA Nagesh, now takes the number of MLAs withdrawing their support to Congress-JDS government to 14. 11 MLAs resigned from their posts on Saturday, while two other Congress MLAs Anand Singh and Ramesh Jarkiholi resigned from the government earlier this week. The strength of the ruling coalition in Karnataka has come down to 105, which is eight short of the half-way mark of 113 for a majority. Of the 79 legislators of Congress, 10 have resigned , while, three of 37 JDS legislator have resigned and 1 independent minister has resigned and will extend support to BJP. 69 Congress MLAs and 34 JDS MLAs now remain in the Assembly from the coalition government. BSP has 1 MLA in the Assembly.
