J&K: Police Recover Narcotics Worth Millions Recovered In Kupwara During Weapon Smuggling Probe

J&K police recovered narcotics worth crores in the North Kashmir's Kupwara district during a probe.

Police on Sunday claimed to have recovered huge Narcotics worth crores during an investigation related to a weapon smuggling case in North Kashmir’s Kupwara district. Also Read|Ballia Shooting Main Accused Dhirendra Singh, 2 Others, Arrested By STF From Lucknow In a statement issued here, the police said that on the 13th of October acting upon a specific input a joint search operation was launched by Kupwara Police and Army 6 JAK Rifles which had culminated in the recovery of arms and ammunition. 1. Pistols- 05 2. Pistol magazines.-10 3. Grenades-05 4. 9 mm rounds- 138 In this regard, a case FIR No. 78/2020, U/s 7/25 Arms Act was registered in PS Karnah and thorough investigation was taken up. During the course of the investigation three suspects namely, 1) Tanveer Ahmed Khan s/o Ab Rashid Khan R/o Teetwal, Karnah. 2) Sajad Ahmed Kakroo S/o Bashir Ahmed Kakro r/o Gundishat, 3) Zakir Hussain Shah s/o Ali Haider Shah r/o Takia, Bahadurkot were brought for questioning by Police in connection with their involvement in cross-border narco-weapon smuggling. During sustained questioning and upon their disclosure five packets of Brown Sugar like substance weighing approx. 5.5 kgs have been recovered from the home courtyard of one of the accused namely Tanveer Ahmad Khan s/o Ab Rashid Khan R/o Teetwal, Karnah. All the three accused have been arrested and further investigation u/s 8/21 and Ss 13, 18, and 39 UAPA Act is underway. During sustained questioning and upon their disclosure five packets of Brown Sugar like substance weighing approx. 5.5 kgs have been recovered from the home courtyard of one of the accused namely Tanveer Ahmad Khan son of Ab Rashid Khan resident of Teetwal, Karnah. All the three accused have been arrested and further investigation u/s 8/21 and Ss 13, 18, and 39 UAPA Act is underway, reads the statement.
