Police have busted a major arms delivery and arrested two persons along with arms and ammunition at Yemoh crossing near Jawhar tunnel in South Kashmir's Kulgam district. The arms consignment is part of the same module, which has been receiving the arms after being dropped by the drones across the line of control.
Police said that a joint team of police and Army's 9RR arrested two persons during the late evening at Yemoh crossing near Jawhar Tunnel in a Balero vehicle under registration number JK13B 4213 with arms and ammunition.
Among the recoveries is a sophisticated Bretta series rifle along with the scope, four magazines, and ammunition. Besides an AK47, 4 grenades and four lakh rupees in cash were recovered from the vehicle.
The arrested have been identified as Sami ullah son of Bashir Ahmad check Resident of Vehil nowgam shopian and Nisar Ahmad Lone son of Ab Salam Lone resident of Hafshermal Shopain.
Police is interrogating the duo to know the exact location and modes Operandi of the arms smuggling. Earlier today DGP Dilbagh Singh had said that the new modus operandi of using drones for arms dropping is a serious development and police was working overtime to break the new modules.
