J&K: Assistant professor turned militant likely among killed terrorists in Shopian encounter
Four Hizbul militants have been reported killed in the gun-fight with security forces in Shopian.
New Delhi: In an encounter going on in Badipora village of Shopian district, four militants have been killed during the gunfight with forces. Hizbul top commander Saddam Paddar, a close aide of Burhan Wani and Adil Malik, is also expected to be killed in the encounter.
Kashmir University assistant professor who turned militant - Rafi Bhat is likely among those killed.
University assistant professor Mohammad Rafi Bhat had gone missing on Friday. He is a resident of Ganderbal in central Kashmir and was working as assistant professor in sociology department
Official sources informed that the operation is still going on.
Several protesters are reported injured while a few are said to be critical
Two jawans one each of police and army have been injured in the encounter so far while police is making announcements on loud speakers asking the surrounded militants to surrender. SSP Shopian Shailendra Mishra is leading the operation himself.
Internet services and train services have been stopped in south Kashmir too.
